Lead Generation Is Overrated

Can I let you in on a little secret? I think lead generation is entirely overrated. 

In this blog post, I’m going to explain not only why I believe that, but also how to generate really good prospects with the leads that you already have. 

And give you 5 ideas on what you can do to maximize the leads you already have.

A lot of new business owners who want to grow and scale their business will run ads to get more leads, that’s called Lead Generation of course.

The problem is if you’re constantly running fresh ads to get more leads, you can quickly drain your bank account if you don’t have a complete followup and nurture strategy!  While the results may be OK converting fresh leads… they probably won’t be OUTSTANDING.

But maybe there was that one time…. Years ago you hit the jackpot and you got a ton of leads which were all converting.   Times have changed and you need to have a full lead nurture process in order to maximize the leads you’re already getting.

The sad reality is that only about 2- 4% of those leads are actually going to take you up on your offer right away.

Those are the people that are on the tip of the iceberg!

What about the other 96% of the people who expressed interest?  

I want to give you some specific things that you can do to make sure you are nurturing those leads which don’t take immediate action but may in the future.   With some good nurturing you can grow them into really good prospects who know, like and trust you. 

First, you want to make sure you funnel all of these new leads into an email system.

Once they are in your email system you will want to automate a nurture sequence… (if you want to experience my nurture sequence, just optin for this free resource).

This email sequence ideally tells your story of WHY you do what you do and how you can help people with a specific problem.  And of course, have a call to action. 

After they’ve been indoctrinated then you want to just put them onto your normal newsletter list, meaning you should be putting out a newsletter each and every week. And I don’t mean like a fancy with all pictures and things like that, it can be a simple email (which oftentimes gets better results than the fancy designed newsletters.

Second, you want to make sure you are everywhere your ideal client is online. Meaning you’re on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter, wherever your leads are hanging out, they should be seeing your content.

And so that might mean doing some retargeting ads to show people who are already on your list. A little bit more education on what you do. Because the fact is, if you are just posting on your business page on Facebook, Facebook is only showing that to maybe 0.00001% of the people that have followed you.

People have to go to your Facebook page to actually get your content. Boosting those into retargeting is one aspect of making sure that people are seeing your content.. 

Third, you should create a Private Facebook Group.   Then funnel all of your prospects into this private Facebook group so that they see like, know, you.  Not only that, they’re able to identify exactly what it is that you can help them with.

When you implement these strategies in combination, you’re going to see that 2% or 4% immediate conversion, double, maybe even triple down the road. And again, it takes a little bit of work to do the nurturing, but it definitely pays off in the end.
